BBC News Channel chief political correspondent Norman Smith looks back at 2011 and how two issues - the economy and Europe - came to dominate political events.

His political review of 2011 will be broadcast on the BBC News Channel at 08.30 GMT on Monday 26 December, 00.30 GMT on Saturday 31 December and on Sunday 1 January at 10.30 GMT and 16.30 GMT.
