Conservatives and Europe: Major and Maastricht Treaty


The government is divided over Europe and waiting for a Commons statement from the PM - recalling the position John Major faced 20 years ago this week as he signed the Maastricht Treaty.

Adam Fleming looked back in his history books and spoke to former MPs Rupert Allason and Sir Teddy Taylor who compared today's European troubles with those facing a previous generation of Conservative MPs.
