Party leaders on UK economy growth
David Cameron has insisted the government is doing everything it can to promote growth and jobs.
A survey by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has warned that Britain is facing a "slow and painful" loss of jobs, and that the situation is likely to get worse.
Mr Cameron said the crisis in the eurozone was having a damaging impact on the economy.
However, Ed Miliband accused the government of being out of touch with the needs of business.
