HS2 makes Birmingham 'London suburb' says Digby Jones
The proposed HS2 high speed rail line would make "Birmingham the most northern suburb of London", Lord Jones has said.
The former CBI boss spoke up for the "excellent" project, but ultimately doubted it would be built, as he debated with South Northamptonshire MP Andrea Leadsom who said there was no case for it, but still thought it would be constructed.
MPs have given some support for the £32bn link initially from London to the Midlands, and later towards cities in northern England and perhaps Scotland.
