Prisoners should be working says Ken Clarke
Criminals should be made to work whilst serving sentences in prison, Ken Clarke has said during a speech at the Conservative party conference.
The justice secretary told delegates that the Working Prisons programme would encourage prisoners to do something productive, "rather than doing nothing".
He said the scheme had received support from large private sector companies including Virgin, National Grid and Marks & Spencer.
