Winter fuel payments are a waste of money says author Ed Howker
Author Ed Howker said the taxpayer was already paying too much to subsidise the over-60s with bus passes, winter fuel payments and free eyes tests.
The man who penned 'Jilted Generation: How Britain Bankrupted Its Youth' said the younger generation needed help, and they cannot be expected to pay for pensioners.
He cited a Parliamentary Report which said winter fuel payments cost £3bn a year and that only 12 per cent of those getting the money needed it.
Each week, the Daily Politics offers a platform to a famous person to make a film with their views on a subject before debating them in the studio.
