Lord Archer on Liberal Democrat call to Clegg on tuition fees

Lord Archer said the 100 failed Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidates petitioning Nick Clegg to oppose plans to raise tuition fees in England "should be backing him and not making a lot of noise".

The former Tory party deputy chairman backs Sir John Major's comments about the coalition carrying on beyond the next general election, but said it was unrealistic to discuss a electoral pact until six months before the next poll.
