BBC denies spending cuts meeting compromises independence

The BBC has denied that its Director General compromised the BBC's independence by visiting Downing Street to discuss coverage of spending cuts.

One of the Labour leadership candidates, Ed Miliband, has described the meeting as "deeply worrying".
