Stolen car is driven over police officer's foot

A stolen car has been driven over a police officer's foot in Londonderry.

The car, a Toyota Celica with a Northern Ireland registration, was stolen from Bridgend in County Donegal shortly after midnight on Sunday.

At about 04:00 GMT, the car was spotted by police at Caw Hill Park in Derry. The car was reversed into a police car, causing damage to the front of it.

When officers approached, the car was driven at them, going over an officer's foot.

A police spokesman said the officer was not injured.

The car was then driven away towards the Limavady Road.
