Woman jailed for dragging and assaulting policewoman

DERRY Bishop's Street Court house Londonderry Magistrates' Court heard that the policewoman was dragged by her hair by Deehan

A woman from Londonderry has been jailed for seven months at Londonderry Magistrates' Court for assaulting a police officer.

Amanda Deehan, who has nine previous convictions for assaulting police, admitted assaulting and resisting a policewoman on 27 November.

The 29-year-old is from Primrose Street in Derry.

The court was told the policewoman was dragged by her hair by Deehan and put on the ground.

The officer was responding to concerns about Deehan's young twins when she was assaulted, suffering cracked ribs as a result.

A defence solicitor said it was "a very serious assault" and that Deehan's record spoke for itself.
