Londonderry man fined £20,000 for erecting building


A man from Derry has been fined £20,000 for the unauthorised erection of a building.

John Doherty from Ardan Road, Culmore, was found guilty at Londonderry Magistrates' Court of a continued non-compliance with DoE planning enforcement notices.

Doherty was charged with the unauthorised erection of a large building, a fence and gates.

He was also told to pay £1,400 in legal costs.

He was also charged with the unauthorised use of buildings and land for the depositing of vehicles at Coney Road in Culmore.

Doherty was prosecuted under Article 72 of the Planning Order 1991.
