Ronan McCusker jailed for sexually assaulting drunk woman

A sex offender who was given a character reference by Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte has been jailed at Londonderry Crown Court.

Ronan McCusker, 27, from Ballygillen Road in Cookstown, County Tyrone, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his 47-year-old victim.

He then ejected her from his van when she was naked from the waist down.

He was sentenced to 15 months in prison followed by 15 months on licence.

Mr McCusker committed the offences at the Ballymulligan Road near Magherafelt on 28 June 2010.

Jailing McCusker, Judge Piers Grant described his offending behaviour as extremely wicked and said he had taken advantage of a vulnerable woman who was drunk to carry out his offending.

Mr McCusker has also been placed on the sex offenders register for ten years and banned from unsupervised access to children and vulnerable adults.
