Petrol bomb thrown at home of elderly couple

Police are appealing for information after a petrol bomb was thrown at the roof of a house of an elderly couple in Londonderry.

Sinn Fein councillor Patricia Logue said the device had been thrown in an attempt to attack a police checkpoint, and had put "life and property in danger".

The petrol bomb was thrown at the house on Bishop Street around 21:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Fire crews also attended the scene.

No one was injured in the incident and minor damage was caused.
