Man in court in Londonderry on child sex abuse charges

A 56-year-old man is to go on trial at Londonderry Crown Court next month charged with committing child sex abuse offences almost 40 years ago.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to seven charges of indecently assaulting a female child on dates between January 1975 and December 1981.

The defendant could not be named to protect the identity of the victim of the alleged offences.

He released the defendant on continuing bail.

The trial which is expected to last five days, starts on 25 February.
