Derry woman sentenced for drink driving offences
A Londonderry woman has been sentenced to 18 months on probation for offences including dangerous driving while disqualified and driving with excess alcohol.
Sheilagh Edwards, 55, from Malven Terrace, knocked down a pedestrian in Chapel Road in the city in June.
A blood test later revealed that she was almost three times over the legal limit.
The court was told her son had died in a traffic accident 25 years ago.
Her solicitor said it was at this point her relationship with alcohol began.
Judge Barney McElholm said this was her sixth conviction for drink driving and she was 'a danger to us all'.
She was disqualified for driving for 10 years.
