34-year-old jailed for attacking barman

Bishop Street courthouse Derry

A 34-year-old man who admitted dislocating a barman's shoulder after he was refused a drink in a Derry bar has been jailed for seven months.

Barry McCrory, of no fixed abode, also admitted breaking several windows after he was thrown out of the bar in Waterloo Street in May 2011.

The court was told that after his arrest he spat at police officers and urinated in a cell.

District Judge Barney McElholm said McCrory's record was "atrocious".

He was also barred from approaching within 50 metres of the bar for the next five years.
