Man is charged after drug seizure at City of Derry Airport

City of Derry Airport Border Force officers stopped the man in City of Derry Airport after he got off a flight from Portugal

A 31-year-old man has been charged with attempting to smuggle cannabis with an estimated street value of £3,000 into the UK via City of Derry Airport.

The man, who is originally from Portugal but currently lives in County Tyrone, was detained after he got off a flight from Faro to Derry on Thursday.

He was arrested after Border Force officers found over half a kilo of suspected cannabis in baggage.

He is due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates' Court on 29 August.
