The funeral of Lauren O'Neill, who was murdered in Bellaghy at the weekend, has taken place.

The 18-year-old was shot dead in her home in William Court on Saturday morning.

Her sister Brenda is still in hospital. Brenda's two children were in the house at the time of the shooting.

Phelim McNally, 26, from Station Park in Toomebridge, has been charged with Lauren's murder and with attempting to murder Brenda, his former partner.

Bellaghy parish priest Father Andrew Dolan was chief celebrant at the Requiem mass.

"The fact that Lauren was so young increases the sadness," he said.

"This sadness is compounded by the manner of her death, the brutal way she died.
