Man charged over '£8,000 cocaine find' in Londonderry

A 22-year-old man has been charged with drugs offences after police found suspected cocaine with an estimated value of £8,000 in Londonderry.

He was one of two men arrested on Thursday after officers recovered the substance during a search of a property in the Foyle Springs area of the city.

The other man, who is 42, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The 22-year-old is expected to appear in court on Saturday morning.

He is due before Magherafelt Magistrates' Court charged with possessing a class A controlled drug, possessing a class A controlled drug with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug.

Officers involved in the investigation also conducted a follow-up search at a property in Creggan, Derry, on Friday.
