Man arrested in Newry following assault

A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault in Newry, County Down.

A 27-year-old man was found with stab injuries to his chest shortly before 03:00 BST on Thursday,

The incident happened at a house in Carnagh Park in the city. The injured man is believed to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The arrested man was also treated for stab injuries to his leg. They are not believed to be life-threatening.
