Legal challenge to Peter and Iris Robinson conduct report withdrawn

Standards Commissioner Douglas Bain has produced a report on allegations about the conduct of First Minister Peter Robinson and his wife Iris

A legal challenge has been withdrawn to an official report into allegations about the conduct of First Minister Peter Robinson and his wife Iris.

Mrs Robinson's lawyer had raised concerns that her privacy and health may have suffered as a result of material included in the assembly standards commissioner's draft report.

It is understood some minor amendments have been made to attached documents.

The report has now been submitted to the assembly standards committee.

It is thought committee members will decide when the assembly reconvenes in the autumn if any action should be taken and when the report will be published.

The inquiry began after the BBC's Spotlight programme, broadcast in January 2010, detailed how Mrs Robinson had obtained thousands of pounds from property developers to help her teenage lover to set up a business.
