Pedestrian death: Pensioner killed was Patrick Wilkinson

The man who died in a three car crash in County Down was 72-year-old Patrick Wilkinson, police have said.

He was a pedestrian who was killed near Ballyhornan village, Downpatrick, on Wednesday.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, who were arrested in connection with the crash, have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Wilkinson was one of three elderly men who died in separate accidents in counties Down and Tyrone this week.

In Dungannon, Phelim Brady, 69, died following a collision between a tractor and a lorry on the Killybracken Road.

Two men, aged 50 and 43, arrested in connection with that crash have been released on bail.

On Tuesday evening, a man in his 80s died after it is believed he was struck by a tractor at a farm on the Loughnamarve Road, Pomeroy.

The Health and Safety Executive are investigating the accident.
