Enda McLaughlin: Irish man hit by car in Germany after stabbings

A County Donegal man who died in Germany after being hit by a car is suspected of stabbing three people.

Enda McLaughlin, 27, from Carndonagh, who was killed near the town of Düren on Monday, is reported to have been fleeing police at the time.

He had taken a taxi from the Dutch city of Heerlen to Aachen in Germany.

The taxi driver and another man were stabbed in Aachen before Mr McLaughlin took another taxi. It left him off near Duren where another man was stabbed.

The third stab victim is believed to have been a truck driver.

All three were treated in hospital, with one reported to have been seriously injured.

Mr McLaughlin's family have been notified and assistance has been offered on behalf of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs.

Interpol contacted Irish police about the incident.
