Pipe bomb explodes near homes in Holywood

A pipe bomb has partially exploded in Holywood, County Down.

Police were alerted after a woman reported hearing a loud bang outside her home at Church Green at 00:35 BST on Tuesday.

An Army bomb team removed the device for forensic examination. A police spokesman said: "No-one is believed to have been injured during the incident."

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
