Man stabbed on Newtownards Road, east Belfast

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 66-year-old man was stabbed in the head and neck in east Belfast on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at Wolsey's tackle shop on the Upper Newtownards Road at about 15:30 BST.

The victim was critically injured, but is now in a stable condition in hospital.

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Police would not say whether the man who was stabbed was working at the shop.
