Northern Ireland most unionised part of UK says ONS
Northern Ireland has the most unionised labour force in the UK, according to fresh data covering 2013.
The Office of National Statistics said one in every three workers is a trade union member. This compares to one in five in the south-east of England.
Northern Ireland also defied a wider UK trend of declining trade union numbers.
Membership levels in the region increased by 19,000 between 1995 and 2013, whereas they fell in England, Scotland and Wales.
