Newtownabbey bomb alert following bins fire ends

A bomb alert in Newtownabbey has ended after police said nothing untoward was found.

Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect object on the Glenville Road.

It was found shortly after 04:00 BST on Tuesday, after police investigated reports that a number of bins were on fire and rubbish was strewn around the area.

Cordons were removed and the road was reopened at about 07:30 BST.
