Culdee Street, Armagh: Fire at flats treated as arson

A fire at a block of flats in Armagh is being treated as arson.

The fire, at Culdee Street in the city, was reported at about 07:30 BST on Thursday. It was in the bedroom of a ground floor flat.

No-one was in the flat at the time. Five occupants of other flats were all out of their homes when fire crews arrived.

They had been alerted to the fire by smoke alarms. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze before it spread.

There are no reports of any injuries.

A fire service spokesperson said the matter had now been handed over to police.
