Residents allowed home as alert ends in Banbridge, County Down

Residents have been allowed to return to their homes following a security alert in Banbridge, County Down.

An Army bomb team was sent to Edenderry Park on Sunday, and the area was cordoned off while searches were carried out.

However, the road reopened a few hours later as the area was declared safe.

A police spokeswoman said "nothing untoward" was discovered in the security operation.
