Filling station worker hit with hammer in east Belfast robbery

A filling station worker has been struck with a hammer during a robbery in east Belfast.

A man entered the shop on Gilnahirk Road at about 23:00 GMT on Friday and threatened staff.

He hit the man in the knee and ordered them to place cash in a bag before running off. The worker's injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
