A range of escalation measures were put in place at the Ulster Hospital's accident and emergency department on Tuesday.

This is the third escalation plan to be put in place in A&E departments in Northern Ireland since Christmas.

Three hundred and six patients went through A&E at the Ulster Hospital on Tuesday, compared with 200 on a normal day.

A major incident was declared at A&E at the Royal Victoria Hospital in January.
