A digger has been used to remove an ATM from a service station in Seaforde, County Down.

The theft happened shortly before 03:45 GMT on Friday at the premises on the Newcastle Road.

Police said considerable damage was caused to the building during the incident.

It is believed the digger used had been stolen a short time earlier from a nearby quarry and then set on fire and destroyed in the incident.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
