Former HET man released over PSNI documents theft
A 62-year-old man who was questioned about the theft of police documents is a former senior investigator with the Historical Enquiries Team (HET).
Steve Hobbs was arrested on Wednesday following the search of a property in Hillsborough, County Down. A further search was carried out in England.
He was released on Thursday night, pending a report to the PPS.
Mr Hobbs, a former Metropolitan Police officer, was until recently a member of the HET. He left in December.
The HET is a specialist police unit set up to examine killings from the Northern Ireland Troubles.
A police spokesman said a number of items were removed for examination during the searches.
It is understood the police do not believe anyone's security has been been compromised.
