A 39-year-old Northern Ireland woman from Bangor, County Down, has been found dead in Australia.

Mother-of-three Comrie Cullen was found stabbed to death in Sydney.

New South Wales police said a 50-year-old man was under police guard at a hospital. He is believed to be her husband.

In a statement, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said they were "currently liaising with a family following reports in Australia".

Police said specially trained officers were providing support to the family.
