Teenagers charged with car theft

A teenager has been remanded in custody accused of being in a stolen car tracked by a police helicopter.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named, was arrested along with three other youths after police used a stinger device to halt the car in west Belfast.

He was also charged with handling stolen goods.

A 16-year-old has been charged with aggravated vehicle theft, handling stolen goods and other motoring offences, according to police.

No information was available on when he is due before a court.

Two other youths, 13 and 15, have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The car was stolen in the north of the city around noon on Saturday.

The car involved was stopped by a stinger device on the Suffolk Road later that afternoon.
