Double rapist Brian Davey jailed for six years

A man who was convicted of the double rape of a student has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Brian Davey, 22, Lineybrook Cottages in Bangor, County Down, was found guilty of the rapes last month.

Davey had claimed that sex was consensual.

Ordering Davey to spend half his sentence in jail and half on supervised licence, the judge said it was clear by their verdicts that the jury rejected Davey's claims.

The offences were aggravated, said the judge, by reason of the fact that Davey had raped his victim twice, leaving her suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and suffering flashbacks.

The judge also ordered Davey to sign on the police sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
