Explosives found in dissident republican search in Strabane

Explosives and bomb-making material have been found by police in County Tyrone, during a search related to dissident republican terrorism.

Detectives from the PSNI's serious crime branch made the discovery as they conducted a search of land on Cemetery Road, Strabane, on Sunday morning.

A police spokesman said they recovered "what is believed to be a quantity of explosives and explosive material".

Army technical officers were called to the find, but no homes were evacuated.

Roads in the area remained open throughout the operation.
