Man hijacks car at knifepoint in Belfast city centre

A woman has been left badly shaken after her car was hijacked at knifepoint in Belfast city centre.

The woman went to put money into a parking meter in Corporation Street at about 08:50 BST on Thursday. She was approached by a man holding what she believed to be a knife to her throat.

He took her car keys and drove off. She was left unhurt but distressed.

A passer by took pictures of part of the incident as members of the public tried to intervene.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
