A security alert in the Kinawley area of County Fermanagh has been declared an elaborate hoax, the police have confirmed.

The alert began on Tuesday morning after a suspicious object was reported close to the village.

A number of homes were evacuated and some roads between Kinawley and Derrylin were closed for several hours.

A PSNI spokesperson said the affected roads have now reopened.
