Foyle Search and Rescue find body

The body of a man has been recovered from the River Foyle.

The body was found on Thursday by the Foyle Search and Rescue team who were looking for teenager Kieran McKeon.

Mr McKeon from Dublin has been missing for nearly two months. The body has yet to be formally identified.

"We got a call yesterday at 5pm from a walker to say that they'd seen what looked like a body," said Craig Smyth, from Foyle Search and Rescue.

"Our crews responded straight away, they were actually out on a search for Kieran at the time at low tide and they came across a body and did a recovery."

Mr Smyth said it was not unusual to find a body in a place that had previously been searched.

"The Foyle works in a really weird way, it can keep a body down as long as it wants," he said.

"All we can do is keep searching and be there for the family."
