A goalkeeper with Irish League club Ballinamallard United has appeared in court on rape and sexual assault charges.

Alvin Rouse, 33, of Old Armagh Road, Monaghan, faces seven charges, alleged to have taken place on 29 April last year.

He faces three counts of rape, two of sexual assault, one of false imprisonment and one of causing a person to engage in a sexual act.

Bail conditions were imposed.

However, he remains in custody.

Mr Rouse previously played in the Irish League for Dungannon Swifts and has played for several League of Ireland teams including Monaghan Utd.
