Keelen Mullan: Family 'devastated' following Limavady accident

A 17-year-old boy has died following a road accident in County Londonderry.

Keelen Mullan, from the Drumsurn area of Limavady, died after the car he was driving was involved in a crash with a tractor.

The accident happened on the Drumsurn Road, near the junction with the Cloghan Road, at about 10:20 GMT on Saturday.

The mayor of Limavady Cathal McLaughlin has said the family is "devastated".

Mr McLaughlin told BBC Radio Foyle he had visited the family.

"I was distraught, it's heartbreaking to hear that this has happened. Another family devastated. My heart went straight out to the family.

"They are just devastated. It's a bitter blow. Keelen was their only child. Words just can't describe how they are feeling."

Mr McLaughlin said the community was also shocked.

"There will be no shortage of people calling to the house and that will show the family just how much he was loved and respected in the community."

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to get in contact with them.
