A warning has been issued for icy roads by the Met Office.

A number of cars have been abandoned in south Belfast's Four Winds.

BBC Northern Ireland's Mervyn Jess witnessed two cars colliding in the area.

"Dozens of vehicles have been abandoned in the area, drivers just walking off and saying there's no chance of doing anything," he said.

"The same for people who are in the area going to work.

"I passed one man with his daughter walking down the hill. He told me she's a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital and he was having to walk her from the Four Winds area to the hospital so she could begin her shift."

The Met Office has warned that further snow is likely, leading to difficult road surfaces and also poor visibility.

With overnight temperatures falling to as low as -3C, ice is likely to be a problem well into Tuesday.
