Man remanded over 1998 John Knocker murder

A 48-year-old man wanted over the murder of a man in County Tyrone almost 15 years ago has been brought before the High Court in Dublin.

Francis Lanigan, who lives at Pinebrook in Mulhuddart in Dublin, was arrested on foot of an extradition warrant.

He is wanted in connection with the murder of John Knocker from Belfast was shot dead outside a hotel in Dungannon on 31 May, 1998.

He was remanded in custody for two weeks.

The Irish detective who arrested Mr Lanigan at his place of work, the Carlisle Gym in Dublin, said that he first told him his name was Kieran McCrory. However, he then admitted he was Francis Lanigan.

He confirmed his name when asked by the judge in court.
