Man is killed in knife attack in Ballymena


A 64-year-old man has been killed in a knife attack in Ballymena, County Antrim.

The victim, named locally as John Lamont, was stabbed to death at a house in the Carnvale area, off the Carniny Road.

A 59-year-old woman, thought to be his wife, has been taken to hospital with stab wounds. Her condition is serious.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The attack happened early on Tuesday.
