Viable pipe bomb is found in north Belfast alert

A viable pipe bomb has been discovered in residential street in north Belfast.

Army bomb disposal officers and police were called to Northwick Drive earlier on Friday to examine the device which was found in the garden of a house.

A number of families were moved from their homes in the street while the pipe bomb was made safe.

The security alert has now ended and the device has been taken away for further examination. All roads in the area have been re-opened to traffic.
