Man armed with machete robs Ballyclare takeaway

A man armed with a machete has robbed a takeaway in Ballyclare, County Antrim, the police have said.

It happened at about 23:00 GMT on Thursday at an outlet on Main Street.

The robber went into the premises and demanded money. He fled with a sum of cash.

Police said that a number of people were in the takeaway at the time, but that no-one was injured. The man was described as being 6ft tall, of slim build and was wearing black clothes.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information about it, to contact police in Newtownabbey.
