A man has been charged with terrorism offences linked to the murder of a police officer in Londonderry almost 20 years ago.

Constable Michael Ferguson, a Catholic from Omagh, was shot by the IRA outside the Richmond Shopping Centre on 23 January 1993.

The 39-year-old man is expected to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday.

He faces a total of four charges, relating to terrorism.
