The Scarlett WWWeb crew audtion some poultry

Some spring chickens with an 'eggs-factor' have been hand-picked for a starring role on the stage.

Zoe Seaton, artistic director of the Big Telly theatre company, and some of her actors 'auditioned' the nervous hopefuls on a farm in Garvagh, County Londonderry.

The five hens will be taken on stage - and on tour - during the two week run of the Scarlett WWWeb.

BBC Newsline's Nicola Weir reports from the farmyard auditions.

The Scarlett WWWeb opens at the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine on 19 October and tours Ireland and Scotland until November.
