Lough Erne golf resort job on sale for £10m

The Lough Erne five star hotel and golf resort opened in October 2007

The administrators of the Lough Erne golf resort in Fermanagh have said it is now on the market and available for immediate sale at £10m.

The five-star facility opened in 2007 but failed to attract enough business and went into administration in May 2011.

At one stage, it was valued at about £30m.

When owners Castle Hume Leisure went into administration, they owed Bank of Scotland Ireland £25m.

The hotel comprises 120 rooms and suites.

The facilities include a dedicated conference and banqueting space for 400 people, five food and beverage outlets and an authentic Thai Spa.

The complex has two championship golf courses - the Castle Hume and the signature Faldo course - two floodlit driving ranges and boasts the only Nick Faldo Academy in Europe.

The sale also includes 25 substantially completed holiday homes (a mix of 3, 4 and 5-bed units) within the golf village.

Planning consent is in place to develop another 18 holiday homes.

The administrators said the "availability of this magnificent resort offers a purchaser a truly unique opportunity" to further establish it as one of the foremost golfing, leisure, wedding and conference destinations in Ireland and Britain.
